Reflection in Action

These quotes from School Leader Internship helped me understand the importance of reflection;

" Reflection as a meaning maker: The goal of reflection is to learn what to take away from one's experiences" (p.107). "Reflection as a rigorous way of thinking: This process involves a certain amount of curiosity, which opens up the possibility of new learning" (p.107). Reflection as part of a community of learners: Reflection is not practiced in isolation; it occurs in a community of learners. Otherwise, one risks repeating the same mistakes and missing the meanings of one's experiences, instead of learning from them" (p.107). Without reflection you just wallow in your sorrow. I think it take discipline and confidence to look at what you do, find the good, and find solutions to the not so good. You implement the steps you need to take to make improvement and then you reflect on how those steps worked and how and why they didn’t work. This is a never ending cycle, that is essential for constant improvement.
